TMCC Meeting Minutes – March 26, 2024 

Hank  opened the meeting at 7 pm at the Gem and Mineral Club building at 2328 Monument Road.  

• WELCOME – introductions were made around the room. 
• 12 folks were present including two guests (Clare and Cheryl).  Former and long time member Donna F. was in attendance.  Welcome back.  Two new members paid due for the year, Jay and Scott.
• STEERING WHEEL – there was no discussion.  Minutes indicate the next meeting is April 12 at 6 pm at Rebekah’s.
• BUSINESS
• Bob P. – Minutes from the Steering committee, last month’s meeting and the Scavenger Hunt information were posted on the website
• Bob P. – Treasury – $526 remaining.  Gem and Mineral club building is reserved for April and May.  located at 2328 Monument Rd.  Membership forms and waivers were available for 2024 fees.  
• Hank created a poster advertising the club and meetings for CMU to place on campus
• Hank and Rebekah added an advertisement of the club at City Hall where our photography show is on-going.
• EVENTS – There was no discussion of Events.  The following was taken from the Feb. meeting
• City Hall Exhibit – 6 members are showing photographs at city hall January – July 2024.  Rebekah will make signage to advertise the club.

• SCAVENGER HUNT 2024 – 10 categories, bring a 5×7 print to the September meeting for presentation and voting in October.  See website notification for more information.
• PRESENTATION 
• Mike Rice presentation on the key aspects of doing STILL LIFE PHOTOGRAPHY at home.  The presentation included lighting, camera settings, useful equipment, a variety of subjects and post-processing techniques.    
• Break time: Snacks were provided by Hank and others  
• Monthly challenge – photos were discussed: “WEATHER”.   6 folks brought up to 4 photographs each.  Good discussions were had.   The April challenge is “STILL LIFE”.

Meeting was over at 9:15 pm.  The next meeting is April 23, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Gem and Mineral club building 2328 Monument Road.   Steering Wheel committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for April 12 at 6:00 pm at Rebekah’s.

Mike Rice will be discussing the technical aspect of doing still life photography at home. Then there is homework for the next month to try it all out. Then there will be snacks and then attendees will share their interpretation of the monthly challenge: WEATHER……

We are kicking off the new year with new energy and good food and some plans for 2024.  Come see what’s happening and share yummy stuff.  The theme for the month is “HATS” so you can wear your favorite hat, bring up to 3 photos of hats to share with the group, bring a little something to eat to share and bring your service (plate/bowl/utensils).

TMCC Meeting Minutes – January 23, 2024

Rebekah opened the meeting at 7 pm in room 172 at CMU Tech (formerly Western Colorado Community College. 12 folks were present including one guest (Dan).

• Welcome, name tags, introductions
• Steering Wheel Committee summary was discussed. Decisions made include: utilizing an agenda and more structured meeting, monthly challenges should include more information about the equipment, setting, goals, processing, etc. Membership fees for 2024 will be $40/person, $50/family. February meeting will be a potluck to encourage past members and CMU students/professor. Steering will meet again prior to the February meeting. A meeting summary is on the website.
• Treasury – $270 remaining. Room 172 reserved/paid for January and February 2024 – $70 per night for 2 hours. Membership forms and waivers were provided for 2024 fees.
• Events – Some club members are showing photographs at city hall January – July 2024. 6 participants.
• Hank gave an awesome presentation on Bellows (an according type of contraption used to alter the distance from lens to focal plane for focussing or to enlarge the image on the sensor for macro photography). Mike brought projection equipment which was very nice quality. thank you Hank and Mike.
• Break time: Rebekah brought cookies and Cheryl brought drinks.
• Monthly challenge photos were discussed: “Landscapes”. 7 folks brought up to 4 photographs each. Good discussions were had. Paul brought a canvas print to present.
• The February challenge is “a hat”.

Meeting was over at 9:15 pm.

The next meeting is February 27, 2024 at 7:00 pm.

Steering Wheel committee TBD, tentative for February 16 at 6:00 pm.

The agenda includes: Introductions, a short Business meeting, Steering Wheel committee report, Topical presentation – Hank will discuss BELLOWS. Snack break time. Member sharing – Theme for the month is “LANDSCAPES”. Please bring up to 4 photographs on a flash drive. Be prepared to discuss some details about the photo, such as: your goal, the location, the camera, settings, lens, special / challenging conditions, processing software, techniques, your thoughts on the result, etc. etc.

13 folks were in attendance. We had introductions and each person mentioned their recent areas of interest in photography. Former members Scott and Cheryl attended. Welcome Back ! The treasury has approximately $430. Sharon indicated the Periodic Report for the TMCC non-profit is due in December. Bob opened an account with the Thundermtncam email address and filed the 2024 Periodic Report ($10).

Six people shared photos for the monthly challenge “MODES OF TRANSPORT”. The club was offered a chance to hang photographs in City Hall in January 2024 where there is space for approx. 20 photographs. Eight people indicated interest in hanging pics and Hank will be the contact and Bob will help if needed. Ed gave the city the Hank/Bob contact information and the city responded requesting photographs (to be hung) be sent for review by the Arts Commission. Hank will be in touch with more information. Seven folks indicated they would help the club move forward forming a Steering committee. A meeting time and place was established to plan for 2024. Those interested in Steering will meet at 7 pm, Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Mesa Mall IHOP.

There is no meeting or outing planned in December unless someone does a spur of the moment gathering. Bob P. will reserve a meeting room at WCCC (CMU west) for the January club meeting to be held January 23, 2024 @ 7-9 pm. At the January meeting, Hank will provide a technical discussion on BELLOWS. The monthly challenge is “LANDSCAPE” (bring thumb drive) and the Steering committee will talk about 2024 plans.

I was contacted by Haley Van Camp, Arts and Culture Coordinator for the City of Grand Junction, if there was any interest by TMCC members, as a group, to display photos in one of their exhibit locations beginning in January. The exhibit would run for six months and all work may be for sale. Let me know if you would like to participate, either by email (ed@edwardkunzelman.com) or at the next club meeting.

The October meeting went well with 13 attendees, almost everyone shared photos for the monthly challenge – Panorama. The treasury has approximately $500 remaining (CORRECTION). We discussed the club organization and approximately 8 folks indicated they would help out with club planning and decisions, including competitions.

Most were in favor of having a November meeting, which will be Nov. 28 at 7 pm at west campus of CMU / WCCC – ROOM 172 !! The monthly challenge is MODES OF TRANSPORT.
