Tuesday April 24 meeting

I need  club members participation in the upcoming meeting on Tuesday night.  We’re having a discussion about Photolabs/Printers.  Please bring a photography product bought from a photo lab, print shop.   The point is to learn from each other where we might want to shop or not want to shop (for prints, books, products) and obstacles that we find along the way.  Its ok if we’ve already seen it before, it does not have to be new.  Please be willing to share price too.

Print Meeting!

Thank you to everyone that came to the print meeting last night!.  It was great to see so many people there and of course to see so many cool prints.  I find it energizing to see other peoples prints, and to see their ideas.  It is a motivating effect and makes me want to get out there and take some more photo’s and of course do the work to print them out.

What is also great is to see the print mediums used.  sometimes you wonder what something would look like in metallic or Matt etc.  Or in any other format.   The feedback was great, it really helps to see how someone chooses to frame a scene.

If you get a chance to come to one of these print meetings, please keep in mind that you don’t spend a fortune to bring a print.  home printer,  office depot, (color laser $2)  walmart,  It doesn’t matter, sharing your thoughts and time is appreciated!

I would of course like to send a special thanks to ED and the club for putting the meeting on and providing space. (We needed the front two rows to show all the prints brought!)  Ed your time is appreciated and helping to drive the conversation very much appreciated!

I look forward to the next one!

  • Looking forward to meeting Mike Davenport this week. I spoke with Bob Ingelhart, local stock/product photographer who’s spoke with the club previously. He was out of town for this class Thursday night, but referred me to Mike who will be donating his time and equipment to do hands on teaching for our requested class on product photography. Similar to Mel Morris’ image of the wine and cheese in the last competition which garnered some interest, Mike specializes in this type of work in order to sell his stock photography. John Barbier, is recovering from minor surgery but will be providing us with subject matter for our project. This is a first time class for this educator, so I hope folks will attend. Hope to see you there.
