Photography tour of Orchard Mesa Cemetery. Those with small children may want to be home for Halloween, but variations of the afternoon include downtown costumes & street photoraphy, haunted buildings in mesa county, Day of the Dead decor (preview at Martin Mortuary) as well as coming back for a “ghost hunt” with paranormal investigator at the cemetery. Up to the group.
Events:
We came up with an idea, for those of us who like old cemeteries and old buildings & such, to have a fun and photogenic Halloween.
We will start around 12:30pm at Orchard Mesa Cemetery where Dave Fishell will give us a tour of the History & Mystery of our local cemetery. He’s up for a 90 min. tour complete with questions. See Note from Dave F.
( I usually take about 2 hours.
That will allow enough time for questions, etc.
Also you might remind people that we will be walking
a little bit, and the ground is a little uneven.
We will meet at the newer cemetery office
building. It is on the north side-right side of the road that
leads down to the energy center/Gunnison River.)
For those not needing to get home for trick or treating, We will be do a historic walk downtown with some of the oldest buildings in GJ & learn a bit of it’s history and stories.
All during the downtown spooktacular, so there will be plenty of kids in costume and our typical ghosts & goblins.
At about 5, we will break away from the downtown festivities to Martin Mortuary where they are setting up for Dia de los Muertos celebration (Day of the Dead).
We can then return to they cemetery for some night time photography for those who want to get a little spooky & try out flash or low light photography.
Feel free to come to all or part of this event. We may fit in a downtown break for dinner someplace.
