I received this letter and I think club members could help him.
Hi, my name is Joe from United Kingdom.
Iam travelling to Utah visiting mexican hat on the 26th and 27th of May 2012. Then on to Moab for the28th, 29th and 30th of May. Moving onto Escalante for a few nights.
Then moving to Bryce canyon, round to page for the slot canyons before going home on the 9th June.
What I am wondering is can you give me some pointers to places of interest that are not generally known by one and all. Also would any members like to meet up and do some photography with me, would be great to meet like minded people from across the world.
Would any of your members be free and want to do some stellar photography in the general vicinity during the periods stated above. What I am after is doing some time lapse photography of the milky way and also star trails against foreground interest or reflections in a pool/lake of sorts.
Obviously I know very little of the country side as I have never visited these states before (except southern Utah). Here is a links to my last attempts whilst in Page, Az last year where I got the bug.

Here in the UK its vey hard to find such clear skies with such wonderful views of the Milky Way, to be truthfull I have never seen the milky way until I got to Az last year.
This would involve going off track to some degree or having local knowledge which is the reason for contacting yourselves.
Finally being in a club myself (www.boltondigitalps.co.uk ) how would your club like to have some digital file competitions, nothing serious just to broaden yours and our horizons with outside judges judging of course, who knows it could lead to some exchanges etc of ideas and places to visit as well as seeing how others view subjects differently.
Regards
Joe Kelly
P.S. I have his email so if you want to contact him email me
Thursday night Training Sessions
We have scheduled the following topics and locations for the next few months. Notice that the starting and ending times vary. The long range plan is to do some outdoor shooting while the weather is nice and when it gets cold return indoors for some Photoshop classes.
May 10 5:00 start to after dark?
Outdoor photography, hopefully some blooming cactus (Macro?) and sunset over the monument. Meet at the Lunchbox Loop parking lot at 5:00 PM, carpool into the Devils Kitchen parking area (for those without park passes.) Suggestions: Bring water and snacks, clothing to fit the weather, flashlight, tripod, reflectors for Macro and whatever else you think necessary.
June 14 6:30 start to after dark?
People/street photography. Meet in front of the funky sculpture in front of the State of CO building (6th and Colorado) at 6:30. We plan to walk through the Farmers Market and end up shooting the downtown area at dusk.
July 12 ? start ? end
Long exposure photography. Looking for some suggestions (locations, subjects, times) for this session.
Aug 9 6:30 start, go till done?
Portrait photography. We have two models for this. We plan to have this at the church so we can take advantage of the air conditioning! Planning to investigate both artificial and natural lighting.
