Minutes for April club meeting

TMCC Meeting Minutes – April 23, 2024 

  • WELCOME  
  • Rebekah opened the meeting at 7 pm at the Gem and Mineral Club building at 2328 Monument Road.  Introductions were made around the room. 
  • 9 folks were present including two guests (Ken and Michelle).   No new members paid dues.  The club now has 15 members.
  • Ken Mabery from New Dimensions explained the organization, which is part of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) with over 2500 members locally.  There is a need for volunteer instructors for subject matter such as photography.  Email maberyken@aol.com if interested.
  • STEERING WHEEL 
  • Meeting was April 12.  The club agreed to participate in “Art in the Park” June 15, 10-12 at Lincoln Park.  A table will be set up and club information available to attendees. 
  • The next meeting is May 10 at 6 pm at Rebekah’s.
  • BUSINESS
  • Bob P. – Minutes from the Steering committee, last month’s club meeting and the Scavenger Hunt information were posted on the website
  • Bob P. – Treasury – $612 remaining.  Gem and Mineral club building is reserved for May.  located at 2328 Monument Rd.  
  • Bob P. submitted e-form 990-N to the IRS for 2023.  Both state and federal reporting for nonprofits are complete for 2023.
  • Member photos remain on display at City Hall.  
  • The library asked the club to display photographs May 10 – July 3.  The Steering committee voted 4-0 to accept the invite.  Google group email was sent and 7 folks responded with interest.  Additional information will be emailed.  Delivery to the library is May 7 / 8  during business hours.  Rebekah will send Bob P.  the advertisement she made for City Hall.
  • PRESENTATION 
  • Mike Rice presentation ANCESTRAL PUEBLOANS – “CAPTURING THE MYSTERIES OF THE ANCIENT ONES”.  The presentation included a variety of photographs from many different areas where ruins can be viewed in the Four Corners area, historical information as well as photography hints and post-processing techniques.    
  • EVENTS – There was discussion of Events.  
  • MAY 28 MEETING PRESENTATION ON PHOTO EDITING – PAUL H.  email one photo prior to the meeting:   easy112233@gmail.com
  • JUNE 8 OUTING 6-9 pm RAILROADS WITH REBEKAH B. – using HDR for night time photography
  • JUNE MEETING PRESENTATION TBD; monthly challenge: RAILROAD
  • SCAVENGER HUNT 2024 – 10 categories, bring a 5×7 print to the September meeting for presentation and voting in October.  See website notification for more information.
  • Break time: Snacks were provided.  Thank you  
  • Monthly challenge – We ran out of time so the monthly challenge photos were not presented/discussed.  The April challenge “STILL LIFE” remains for the month of May.
  • Meeting was over at 9:00 pm.  The next meeting is May 28, 2024 at 7:00 pm at the Gem and Mineral club building 2328 Monument Road.  Steering Wheel committee meeting is scheduled for May 10 at 6:00 pm at Rebekah’s.
